Targeting the Dysfunctional Placenta to Improve Pregnancy Outcomes Based on Lessons Learned in Cancer

چکیده

In recent decades, our understanding of the disrupted mechanisms that contribute to major obstetrical diseases, including preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, preterm birth, and gestational diabetes, has increased exponentially. Common many these obstetric diseases is placental maldevelopment dysfunction; placenta a significant component maternal–fetal interface involved in coordinating, facilitating, regulating maternal nutrient, oxygen waste exchange, hormone cytokine production. Despite advances development function, there are currently no treatments for dysfunction. However, given transient nature accessibility from circulation, offers unique opportunity develop targeted therapeutics routine practices. Furthermore, similar developmental paradigms between cancer, an appropriate current knowledge cancer treatments. this review, we highlight similarities early introduce number therapies being explored pregnancy. We also propose new effectors research have potential be pregnancy complications. Finally, describe method targeting using nonviral polymers capable delivering plasmids, small interfering RNA, other effector nucleic acids, which could ultimately improve outcomes complicated pregnancies.

Treating the dysfunctional placenta

Placental dysfunction underlies major obstetric diseases such as pre-eclampsia and fetal growth restriction (FGR). Whilst there has been a little progress in prophylaxis, there are still no treatments for placental dysfunction in normal obstetric practice. However, a combination of increasingly well-described in vitro systems for studying the human placenta, together with the availability of mo...

Zinc Deficiency in Pregnancy and Fetal - Neonatal Outcomes and Impact of the Supplements on Pregnancy Outcomes

Abstract   Zinc is one of the  essential elements of body which has an important role in natural growth, development, and many biological performances. Zinc deficiency is a major health problem and pregnant women are at high risk. 82% of pregnant women worldwide suffer from zinc deficiency. Zinc deficiency during pregnancy has dangerous and irreparable effects such as growth impairment, spontan...

Breast cancer prevention: lessons to be learned from mechanisms of early pregnancy-mediated breast cancer protection.

Pregnancy at early, but not late age, has a strong and life-long protective effect against breast cancer. The expected overall increase in breast cancer incidence demands the development of a pharmaceutical mimicry of early-age pregnancy-mediated protection. Recently, converging results from rodent models and women on molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the protective effect of early-a...

The effect of lansoprazole administration during pregnancy on the placenta

Introduction: Lansoprazole is one of the proton pump inhibitor drugs widely used in the treatment of gastro-duodenal ulcers and disorders. However, there is not enough data about unexplored adverse effects of lansoprazole on the integrity of the placental barrier. Therefore, the present study was conducted to determine whether placental structure could be affected by lansoprazole administrati...

Systemic effects of periodontitis: lessons learned from research on atherosclerotic vascular disease and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Studies conducted over the past 25 years have focussed on the role of periodontitis, an inflammatory condition of microbial aetiology that destroys the tooth-supporting tissues, as a systemic inflammatory stressor that can act as an independent risk factor of atherosclerotic vascular disease (AVSD) and adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs). It has been suggested that periodontitis-associated bacter...
